Hood frame
Once back on the road (in the summer) everyone believed the TR6 was finished. However there were some obvious areas outstanding. Not least the fact that there was no hood...
I dragged the old frame out from the corner of the garage. It was bent out of shape and in a bit of a mess.
I drilled out the big rivets at the front. Easier for painting. And replaced them with a nut and bolt
Having bent the frame, as much as I could , back into shape. I rubbed it down and painted it. Then I was ready to refit the Velcro for the hood, and the rails that hold the window seals.
I stuck the Velcro on first
I stuck the Velcro on first
Then bolted the channels on and added the window seals
Bolting it back onto the car, it was immediately obvious that it was still bent out of shape. I don’t know what had happened to it previously, but the frame had obviously taken some serious hits. It took me several attempts, some big bars and a complete repaint as a result of my mangling, before I was happy with the mechanism.
