As the list of outstanding tasks started to shrink, I turned my attention to the boot interior.
The spare wheel is covered by a hardwood board. Mine was long gone. But since it’s not exactly high tech, and never seen, I decided to make my own.
Two long pieces raise the cover above the spare wheel. I stuck strips of rubber underneath them and also added metal catches to locate them in the clips at the front of the boot.

Screwed them to the hardboard, painted it and made a catch.
The sides trim gets screwed on. On the panel that covers the tank and fuel pump, I decided to add some sound deadening foam in an effort to quieten the pump noise. I’m not sure how effective it is, but I figured it couldn’t do any harm.
The boot light concerned me. Two exposed metal connectors at the rear, of which one is permanently live. Both right next to the metal petrol tank. I got it working but in the end decided not to connect them.
This was a pretty quick, satisfying job
